Fifteen students of third year B.Tech (Civil Engineering) students of Adamas University visited a Concrete Central Mix Plant, Unitech Concrete Ltd. located at Khardah, in Kolkata, West Bengal on 22, November, 2019. The remaining students will also visit there in another three different batches within 13, December, 2019. A concrete plant is equipment that combines various ingredients (i.e, water, air, admixtures, sand, aggregate, fly ash, silica fume, slag, and cement etc.) to form concrete. A central mix plant combines all of the above ingredients (including water) at a central location. The final product is then transported to the job site. Central mix plants differ from Ready-mix plants in that they offer the end user a much more consistent product since all the ingredient mixing is done in a central location and is computer-assisted to ensure uniformity of product. This visit helped implanting in students’ essential values of inspiration, enhancement of their technological skills, motivation and encouragement for the betterment of their respective careers by observing various parts (i.e, Mixer, Cement batches, Aggregate batches, Conveyors, Radial stackers, Aggregate bins, Cement bins, Heaters, Chillers, Cement silos, Batch plant controls, Dust collector ) of plant.
