A One Day Seminar on Waste Management and Environment Sustainability was organised by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with Academy of Water Technology and Environ Management, Kolkata on August 27, 2019.

The seminar aimed at discussing about the water scarcity problems and environmental pollution effects and how we can overcome the water scarcity problems as well as water pollution and safe our water resources. The objectives of seminar were to discuss the technologies and approaches to be followed for water and waste water treatment and to suggest measures to enhance the reuse and recycle potential of industrial waste water and waste
The seminar started with the welcome address and event report by Dr. T. Senthil Vadivel. Dr. Madhusudan Chakraborty, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Adamas University inaugurated the seminar and given his presidential address. Prof. Shankari P Ghosh, Dean of School of Engineering and Technology, felicitated the gathering.

The renowned Scientist Dr. Swachchha Mazumdar, Sr Principal Scientist, CSIR-CG & CRI) given a thought provoking speech on Controlling Air Pollution in Industries by Bio-filters.

Dr. Sourja Ghosh (Principal scientist, CSIR-CG& CRI) discussed about the Membrane Technologies and its application in industrial wastewater management.
Dr. Ashim K Bhattacharya (Executive Director, Academy of Water Technology and Environment Management) emphasised about Industrial Waste Water Treatment by Environmental Biotechnology, Membrane Bioreactors and Sequence Batch Reactors.

Mr. Sushanata Roy (Chief Manager, (TS & ISO System certification) instigated about the Waste Lubricants and its Environment Impact Assessment.
Dr T. Senthil Vadivel (Professor & Head/ Civil Engineering, Adamas University) emphasized the Application of Artificial Intelligence in Wastewater Treatment
Seminar ended with vote of thanks and certificate distribution to the Participants.
