A group of 37 Undergraduate (UG)/ Postgraduate (PG) students of the School of Science (Dept. of Mathematics and Dept. of Physics) and School of Engineering (Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering) along with 8 faculty members and Dean Of Science participated Lab visit at Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE) Lab DRDO, Chandipur, Odisha on 3 June 2019. PXE is the main research establishment for design and developmental trials of guns, mortars, rockets, RCL, tank guns and their ammunition, including Naval guns and ammunition. It also conducts technical evaluation trials for imported weapons and ammunition It was a great exposure to the students with the enrichment of knowledge of Science and Technology in the field of Artillery development which emphasis on the ability to breach defensive walls during blockades. Students found opportunities to develop their idea how PXE-DRDO lab is organizing routine testing of different artillery like, Bofors, Arjun, Ajay etc. Students are benefited through a real experience of visiting Weapon Wing (Gun Shed, Tank Shed, Weapon Park), Testing point inside PXE- Lab. The Faculty members were Prof. Bimal Kumar Sarkar-Dean of Science,Dr Moumita Dey-HOD of Physics,Dr Nav Kumar Mahato-HOD of Mathematics , Dr. Dipak Kumar Ghosh- HOD of Electronics and Communication Dpt,Dr Swarup Kumar Niyogi,Dr Vaskar Sarkar,MsSatarupa Biswas, Mr. Nisarga Chand and Mrs. Rupanwita Das Mahapatra in official collaboration with Mr. Anil Jena (DRDO Lab Technician).
