The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) fruitfully organized a Seminar on “Water Resources Crisis and Management” on 13, March 2020.  The seminar started with the welcome address by Mr. Santanu Haldar, Co-ordinator of the event and Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering (SOET) and Dr. T. Senthil Vadivel, convenor of the event and HOD, Department of Civil Engineering highlighted the essentiality of the Seminar in Civil Engineering.

Dr. Sidhdhartha Bhattacharyya, Associate Director, Career Development Cell, Faculties from Geography Department and total 52 students from Civil Engineering and Geography Department also participated in this event.

Mr. Subrata Halder, Executive Engineer (Agri-Irrigation), Water Resources Investigation & Development Department, Govt. of West Bengal delivered his speech highlighting the scarcity of water in various states of the country in present scenario and possible ways of combating against the problem. He also described the source of water on the Earth surface, the possible ways of storing the water and quality management of the same for future using purpose. Mr. Halder also shared some of the achievement of his department regarding construction of Rain Water Harvesting systems at various districts of West Bengal and the upcoming projects in their hand.

The session was very much interactive and implanting students with the indispensable values of motivation, enrichment of their technological skills, inspiration and encouragement for the betterment of their individual careers.
