1.Introduction to the course
M.Tech. in Construction Engineering and Management aims to train engineering graduates, engineers and architects to become competent professionals in the field of construction engineering and project management. The program enhances the professionals through a blended academic curriculum which involved theoretical coursework, seminars, and research work. The main objective of the course is to cultivate the conceptual and analytical skills to make the engineers in to strategists who can effectively manage construction industry.
2.What are the learning outcomes?
On successful completion of the programme, the students will
Be able to apply theoretical and practical aspects of project management techniques to achieve project goals.
Possess organizational and leadership capabilities for effective management of construction projects.
Be able to apply knowledge and skills of modern construction practices and techniques.
Have necessary knowledge and skills in accounting, financing, risk analysis and contracting.
Be capable of using relevant software packages for planning, scheduling, executing and controlling of construction projects.
3.Subjects covered:
The course initiated by familiarizing the principles of management, management knowledge areas, construction project planning and scheduling (time and cost management). The course established by Project Management, Construction Management, Contracts Management, Construction Quality, Safety and Equipment Management, Supply Chain Management of Construction Projects, Modern Construction Materials and Technologies, Computer Applications in Construction which suits the current day construction industry. The course also emphases on improving the skill set of students through industrial visits and practical trainings. One-month industrial training slots are amalgamated within the curriculum to ensure the same.

The Department of Civil Engineering provides research opportunities in various fields such as Innovative and Sustainable Building Materials, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering, Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Town planning and Architecture. The Department has established well equipped lab facilities to carry out research in the above mentioned fields. Consultancy activities are also carried out to support the research community and to improve industry enhancement knowledge to the students as well as the society.
