Dr. Saikat Chaterjee is currently working in the capacity of Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering & Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India while working in the interdisciplinary area of Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS). He is engaged in academic activities since the last 19 years. He was very much involved in the accreditation process of the undergraduate programme on the lines of international standards for outcome based education. He visited Grenoble University, France and Poznan University of Technology, Poland to study their academic system, and work out the Student Exchange Programme. He has been an active supporter of experiential learning for students, and has conceptualized integration of industry oriented courses into the curriculum. He has successfully organized many faculty development programmes, international conferences, invited talks, student seminars, and bridge courses. His research interests include computational and experimental analysis of MEMS devices, characterization of smart materials, and nonlinear vibration. His group is currently working on characterization, fabrication and testing of novel material based piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester and actuator. He has authored highly cited articles in reputed international journals. He is a member of the Editorial Board and Review Committee for international journals. His commitment and approach to teaching, academic efforts, educational and administrative leadership roles have been appreciated with awards and recognitions. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India).
